Have you seen an active volcano?
Arenal volcano is one of the most active volcanoes of the americas. This almost perfect cone shape volcano rises 1657 meters (5435 feet) out of the lush pastures and forest at the eastern end of lake arenal. Until July 29, 1968 this "peak" was considered a dormant volcano, when an earthquake shook the area, and hours later Arenal blew.

Arenal has been continuously active since 1968, and nowadays you can witness intermittent rumbling and explosions.
At night you can see a display of ash and rocks spewing skyward and red-hot molten lava flows.

Before getting to the tabacon hotsprings at the base of the volcano, where you can enjoy a relaxing time at the soothing waters while observing the fireworks of the volcano; we´ll make a stop at Sarchi, well known for the handcraft and oxcarts, for what they are famous. Along with this beautiful scenary on the way to Arenal, you will learn about costa rican culture and its natural resources.
